My love for the water began a young age. My family spent many summers
around the pool. I am a former national level competitive swimmer and
triathlete. I still love to compete in open water swimming events. I have
been teaching children and adults to swim for over ten years. I have
coached summer league, high school, and year round swimming teams.
I was also a lifeguard at Clearwater Beach and Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon.
I have completed CPR/AED, First Aid, First Responder, Lifeguard and
Water Safety Instructor certifications.
I have a B.S. in Education with a specialization in Early Childhood from
Texas Christian University and have completed thirty-two hours of
courses toward a M.A. in Teaching and Learning from Nova Southeastern
University. I am currently an elementary school teacher at Safety Harbor
Montessori Academy. I am also an American College of Sports Medicine
certified Personal Trainer, Pilates Instructor and USAT Level 1 Triathlon
coach. Most importantly I am a mom to a sweet little boy.
As an ISR instructor I completed training which included a minimum of 60
hours of supervised in-water training plus education and testing in
subjects such as child psychology, physiology, and behavioral science.
Every ISR instructor must complete re-certification annually to maintain
his or her affiliation with the program.
